iMuvi ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you use the iMuvi platform accessible at imuvi.live and via our mobile application (collectively, the "Platform").
This policy is governed by the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 ("POPIA") and the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 ("CPA"). By registering for or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
1. Who We Are

2. Personal Information We Collect
- Registration information — your name, email address, and password (or Google account details if you use Google Sign-In)
- Profile information — display name, profile photo, and biography that you choose to provide
- Content you upload — videos, images, captions, and associated metadata
- Transaction information — records of coin purchases, episode unlocks, and payment references
- Usage data — content viewed, interactions (likes, follows, saves), session duration, and feature usage
- Technical data — IP address, device type, browser, operating system, and approximate location derived from IP
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create, verify, and manage your account
- To deliver and personalise content on the Platform
- To process coin purchases and episode unlocks
- To send transactional communications (account confirmation, password reset, purchase receipts)
- To moderate content and enforce our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- To comply with applicable South African laws and regulatory requirements
4. Sharing of Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it only with service providers who assist us in operating the Platform, where required by South African law, or in connection with a business transfer.
5. Third-Party Service Providers
- Supabase — authentication, database, and backend services (EU — Paris, France)
- Cloudflare — content delivery, video and image storage (R2), and network security
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Google — optional OAuth sign-in
5.1 Google APIs — Limited Use Disclosure
iMuvi's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only use Google-provided data to authenticate users and display basic profile information with user consent. We do not use this data for advertising or share it with third parties except as required to operate the platform.
6. International Transfers
Your data may be processed on servers outside South Africa, including in the European Union, subject to appropriate safeguards consistent with POPIA requirements.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. On account deletion, we will remove or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
8. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls. No internet transmission is completely secure.
9. Your Rights Under POPIA

10. Cookies and Local Storage
iMuvi uses browser local storage and essential session cookies to maintain your authenticated session. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
11. Children
The Platform is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Your continued use of the Platform after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
